Reducing the fuel consumption of petrol engines
A result of the Group’s commitment to developing cleantech, the dedicated EGR system reduces fuel consumption by 10% for all uses (certification test cycles and all types of customer driving).
EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation (increased quantity of circulated gas)
How do high-efficiency engines work?
- Increasing the quantity of recirculated gas and the cylinder compression rate optimises engine efficiency
- Excess fuel is sent to the cylinder dedicated to producing the recirculated gas, the hydrogen content of which increases
- The hydrogen in the recirculated gas :
a.Accelerates fuel combustion in the cylinders
b.Considerably reduces pinking
